Giving to SouthArk

Susanne Wache

Assistant Professor of Biology

Susanne WacheDr. Wache completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Berlin, Germany. In the U.S., she received her MS from the University of Oregon at Eugene and her PhD from the University of Connecticut at Storrs. She served as a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Kentucky in Biomedical and Molecular Pharmacology, and the Graduate Center for Toxicology. Dr. Wache came to SouthArk from Midway College in Kentucky, where she was an adjunct professor for three years.

Her interest in physiological processes during development goes back to her training in animal physiology when she studied the effect of steroids on fish skin cells. At the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology, the object of her studies were industrially significant crabs that were tested for oxygen binding at three stages of development. Finally, her studies concentrated on the effects of three different diets at different stages of life in aquaculturally important brine shrimp commonly known as 'seamonkeys'. IF YOU WANT TO SEE THEM, PLEASE VISIT US AT THE BIOLOGY lab.

Other extracurricular interests include English literature, water sports, and collecting and identifying sea shells.
