GAIN (Getting Ahead In Nursing)

LogoSouth Arkansas Community College was awarded the President's Community Based Job Training Grant.  South Arkansas Community College was one of 72 grants awarded from 429 grant applications.  The funds will be used for the nursing and surgical technology programs and preparation and retention of students.

The college was awarded $1,573,688.  "Community Colleges are vital partners in education and preparing workers for good jobs in their local area.  This grant will help workers succeed in careers in health care."

  • Licensed Practical Nurse
    We have a robust array of academic programs and services to support LPN students’ success and increase LPN training capacity. Tutoring and mentoring are an important part of a student’s success.
  • Surgical Technologist
    Come apply for the Surgical Tech program. This is a new program that is not offered anywhere in this vicinity.  This is the newest class offered in the Allied Health Program. It is taught by a nurse who is specifically
    certified in the field of Surgical Technology.

Ladder To Success

  • Certified Nursing Assistant
    2Learn the first step to nursing. Upon completion you will be ready to enroll in the next step.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
    As an LPN you can take care of patients in the hospital or in doctor’s offices. You will be working side by side with other LPNs and RNs.
  • Additional Opportunities:  Surgical Technologist 
    With this degree, you will be able to work in the
    operating room, assisting the doctors during surgery.
