CARES/CRRSAA/ARPA Disbursements to Students:  $3,896,377

The CARES Act Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund-IHE/Student Aid provides funding to institutions to provide emergency financial aid grants to students whose lives have been disrupted, many of whom are facing financial challenges and struggling to make ends meet.

CERTIFICATION STATEMENT

SouthArk has signed a Certification and Acknowledgment agreement with the U.S. Department of Education that the college will use at least 50% of our CARES funds to send direct payments to students. SouthArk was the first college in Arkansas to issue the Emergency Financial Aids Grants to students under this program.

INFORMATION

SouthArk is a recipient of U.S. Department of Education funds to assist the college to cover significant changes in the delivery of instruction and other academic needs for students, faculty, and staff because of the COVID-19 pandemic. SouthArk will use the funds to improve remote educational access and delivery to our students. This includes upgrades and improvements to our information technology infrastructure and direct assistance to students through tutoring, advising, counseling, and financial aid.

STUDENT ELIGIBILITY

Method used to determine student eligibility:
• Degree-seeking student
• Enrolled in at least six credit hours as of March 12, 2020
• Excludes concurrent credit, noncredit, and non-degree seeking students
• Must meet certain eligibility requirements in section 484 of the Higher Education Act

Process for awarding funds to students:
Eligible students are emailed a certification form, which they identify how funds will be utilized within the CARES Act allowable expense categories

CARES Disbursements to SouthArk:  $113,745.53

INFORMATION

The state of Arkansas received COVID-19 relief funds to assist educational institutions around the state to order necessary supplies for K-12 and Higher Education programs to combat the spread of COVID-19.  SouthArk received an allocation through the Arkansas Department of Health.

SOUTHARK PURCHASES

With the funds, SouthArk has ordered $83,617.96 worth of supplies for arrival in mid-August with plans to use the rest of the allocation for an order in August.
