JOB PURPOSE:

Provide administrative assistance to the Dean of Career and Technical Education as well as to the faculty of the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division.

 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following; Support the office of the Dean of Career and Technical Education; Assist students; Maintain student and school records; Support CTE Division faculty and staff; Navigate SouthArk databases; Prepare divisional correspondence and reports; Assemble Department of Education reports; and communicate with area high school personnel as well as other SouthArk personnel.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

The position calls for an individual with strong computer skills, particularly with the Microsoft Office Suite. The individual should possess the following; knowledge of office equipment operation; the ability to accurately maintain (electronic and paper) files and records; excellent verbal and written communication skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; basic math skills; and the ability to multitask.

 

Required Education and Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years recent administrative assistant experience.  A skills assessment test will be required prior to selection for an interview. Selected applicants will be contacted for the scheduling of this test.

 

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Associate Degree and a minimum of 3 years recent administrative experience.  A skills assessment test will be required prior to selection for an interview. Selected applicants will be contacted for the scheduling of this test

Work Environment:

The position office is located on SouthArk’s East campus in the McGehee Building. The individual will provide assistance for and report to the Dean of Career and Technical Education.  The individual will also assist in support of secondary and postsecondary CTE Division faculty, work with other college employees, and interact with local high school personnel.  

 

Physical Demands:

The position calls for the following; long periods of time sitting and working at a computer station; the ability to communicate via telephone; the ability to navigate to all parts of east and west campuses; and the ability to lift 25 pounds.

 

Travel Requirements:

The position calls for periodic travel between SouthArk’s east and west campuses
