JOB PURPOSE:

This position is charged with instruction of Biology courses and Co-requisite Biology courses/labs, online/hybrid course delivery, Concurrent instruction, grading, classroom management, curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement; professional development. implementation of academic technologies and provides support to strengthen online Biology offerings.  ** Biology courses include but are not limited to the following: Anatomy and Physiology, Nutrition, Fundamentals of Biology, and Biology for Majors.**   Participation in shared governance and institutional service.

 

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Plan, organize, manage, oversee and evaluate the student learning and activities involved with learning, including implementing strategies in traditional and online learning classrooms.• Plan and evaluate student performance; establish student performance requirements and development targets; monitor student performance and provide coaching for student performance improvement and development • Participates in assessment of student learning, presents statistical data, research findings, and recommends appropriate action to institutional stakeholders • Collaborate with other faculty in the development of new traditional and distance learning course offerings  • Participate in divisional activities

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

  1. Education/Training: A Master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in the discipline.
  2. Engaging students in the discipline
  3. Assessing student performance and providing strategies of improvement.
  4. Student discipline, classroom management, and collegiality.
  5. Demonstrates quality interpersonal and written communication skills when working with others.
  6. Displays a strong proficiency in the use of the English language.
  7. Has experience working in a community college setting with non-traditional students.
  8. Will ensure that learning remains congruent with the college’s stated purposes and goals.
  9. Demonstrates knowledge and experience in pedagogy, online instructional course design, and adult learning theories
  10. Demonstrates knowledge and experience in laboratory design and methodology.rned master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in Mathematics or a degree closely aligned • A minimum of three years of instructional experience in college-level .

Required Education and Experience:

  • Earned master’s degree or higher with at least 18 graduate hours in Biology. **A solid background in chemistry is beneficial ** Experience in teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology a plus.** **    • A minimum of three years of instructional experience teaching at the college-level.**

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Experience as faculty in a higher education setting • Experience with Blackboard LMS
