JOB PURPOSE:

To recruit individuals into and teach non-credit industrial trainings.  60% of the position will be directly related to and covered by the Ready for Life Grant which will require the development and coordination of pre-employment training for unemployed or underemployed individuals looking to reenter the workforce in a manufacturing occupation.  The remaining 40% of the position will be coordinating and instructing other industrial trainings needed as identified by the college or requested by regional employers.

This is a Full-Time, 12-month position.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Recruit unemployed or underemployed individuals into the training program associated with the Ready for Life grant.
  • Train individuals in safety and operational procedures for the modern manufacturing environment. Topics may include equipment maintenance, electrical and instrumentation, process operations, industrial safety, etc..
  • Work with regional employers to identify or develop trainings as needed by the manufacturing facilities.
  • Promote non-credit workforce trainings at local employers, high schools, and employment events as needed.
  • Track student progress through the ready for life training pathway.
  • Coordinate paperwork collection, registration, and reporting of non-credit workforce students.
  • Plan, organize, manage, oversee and evaluate the student learning and activities involved with learning, including implementing strategies in traditional and online learning classrooms.
  • Plan and evaluate student performance; establish student performance requirements and development targets; monitor student performance and provide coaching for student performance improvement and development
  • Participates in assessment of student learning, presents statistical data, research findings, and recommends appropriate action to institutional stakeholders
  • Collaborate with credit and non-credit instructors in the development of new traditional and distance learning course offerings
  • Act as backup instructor for C-STOP Classes as needed
  • Collaborate with resource partners who can help students fund their education
  • Cultivate, develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and Contractors

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Excellent computer, communication (written and verbal, time management and organizational skills
  • Experience with modern industrial environments and procedures.
  • Demonstrate skill and/or knowledge in teaching discipline. Experience in training
  • Make continuous efforts to improve the quality of instruction by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Plan, develop, and use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist students in meeting course objectives and which are appropriate for students with differing educational and experiential backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Keep accurate student records and submit related reports and forms within requested timelines.
  • Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Train participants at a variety of times and locations in response to institutional needs.
  • Use equipment and facilities responsibly and courteously.
  • Demonstrate competence and interest in the use of technology in the classroom and willingness to explore new instructional methodologies.
  • Willing to receive training, certification or licensure in order to teach specific courses or topics.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Required Education and Experience:

Minimum of three years industrial experience including time spent in training individuals in related industrial techniques and procedures.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

Associates Degree or higher preferred with 5 years plus relevant industrial experience.

 

Other Job Duties:

Academic advising, service on institutional committees and councils.
