Steps to Participate in Concurrent/Dual Enrollment

1. Visit your high school guidance counselor for concurrent options and course approval.

2. Determine eligibility. All concurrent/dual credit students must meet the minimum qualifying score requirements:

For all courses:

• ACT score of 19 in Reading or a comparable score on the  Accuplacer Next Generation test (251+ in Reading)

For Composition I:

• ACT score of 19 in Reading or comparable score on the Accuplacer Next Generation test (251+ in Reading) AND
• ACT score of 19 in English or a comparable score on the Accuplacer Next Generation test (251+ Writing)

For College Algebra:

• ACT score of 19 in Reading or comparable score on the Accuplacer Next Generation test (251+ in Reading) AND

• ACT score of 19 in Math 19 or a comparable score on the  Accuplacer Next Generation test (249+ in QAS)

If you DO NOT have the qualifying scores: contact SouthArk’s Testing/Learning Center to schedule the ACCUPLACER Next Generation test: 870-864-7196.

If you do not earn the scores on the first try, you may retest.

You will return these qualifying test scores with your supporting documents.

Fill out and sign the Early College Start (ECS) Application and Registration form. This form must be signed by the student, parent/guardian, and high school counselor.

A signed Early College Start form gives South Arkansas Community College permission to request these records from your high school:

1. Immunization records
2. High school transcripts
3. Test scores

Fill out and sign the FERPA form to consent release of your academic records to your parent/guardian. Turn the signed form into your counselor or to SouthArk's Registrar.

You own your college academic records. Even if you are a minor, your academic records may not be released to your parent or guardian without your consent under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Return the ECS and supporting documents in one of these ways:

1. Return to your high school counselor
2. Return to your college & career coach
3. Return using the Early College Start Student Submission Portal.

Opt-in for texting on your ECS form to receive a text when registration is complete. You will also receive an e-mail confirming your registration.

After you receive confirmation of your registration:

• Ensure you have access to your SouthArk e-mail (where you will receive important information from me), Blackboard (where you will get your course assignments), and your MyCampus (the portal where you can find information regarding your course registration as well as your grade information upon completion of the course). You can get to your e-mail, MyCampus, and Blackboard from our southark.edu website.

To log-in, follow the format below:

Username: first three letters of your first name, first three letters of your last name, and the last four digits of your student ID number (Example: jandoe8416)

Password: SA* followed by your complete student ID number (Example: SA*777999999)

If you have difficulties logging in, call 870-864-7120 and leave a voicemail with your name and telephone number.

• Get your student ID card at the SouthArk Library.

Check if your high school will be providing textbooks. If not, look up and order your class materials on the SouthArk Bookstore website.

Juniors and seniors may qualify for the concurrent credit challenge scholarship, which covers tuition for up to two, three-hour eligible courses per semester.

If you have a bill, payments should be made with the SouthArk bookstore. Payment can be made online HERE

The bookstore is located on the first floor of the El Dorado Conference Center, and their phone number is 870.864.7163.  You may also mail a check made out to SOUTH ARKANSAS COMMUNITY COLLEGE to Business Office at P.O. Box 7010. 

Please remember, tuition is paid and due each semester after you are registered for the semester.
