About Us

tlc 2The Learning Center is a comprehensive learning environment for SouthArk students who may need assistance with their school work. Our focus is on student success and all of our services are free! The Learning Center houses 12 computers which provide access to multiple types of software as well as Internet access for distance learning courses and research needs. Students may use the word processing programs to prepare papers, complete assignments, and print documents. We are committed to providing a friendly, nurturing, and diverse learning environment that empowers and encourages our diverse student population to become independent, lifelong learners.

Students may request academic help in several ways. Professional and peer tutors are also available to work with students in the areas of computers, language arts, mathematics, and science. Students with appointments are given priority; however, tutors and computers are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

  • Come prepared for your tutoring session.
  • Bring a list of questions or topics you wish to discuss, your textbook, and your assignment.
  • Read the required chapters.
  • Try to work out any problems as best you can before you see a tutor.
  • When bringing in a paper to be tutored, please be sure to have it typed.
  • The tutors will assist you with your work; they will not do it for you.

NO infants or children are allowed in the Learning Center due to safety concerns. There is NO eating, drinking, or cell phone usage in the Learning Center. If you forget to turn your phone off or put on vibrate and it rings, immediately exit down the hallway. Be sure to silent your phone before returning.
