We are honored to display the newly restored and reframed portrait of Judge Emon O. Mahony in the Mahony Family Library. A distinguished legal mind, civic leader, and native of El Dorado, Judge Mahony served as County Judge, Chief Chancellor, U.S. Attorney, and Brigadier General in the Arkansas State Guard—leaving a profound impact on both our region and state.

We extend our sincere thanks to the Mahony family for generously donating this portrait and to all those involved in its restoration and preparation for display. The Mahony legacy in law, medicine, and business continues to shape Union County, and we are proud to carry that name and preserve that history here at South Arkansas College.

📚 A Legacy Preserved at the Mahony Family Library We are honored to receive a remarkable gift—a portrait of Judge Emon O. Mahony, donated by a member of the Mahony family. Judge Mahony, born in El Dorado in 1874, was a respected legal and civic leader who served as County Judge, Chief Chancellor, and U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Arkansas. He was also a Brigadier General in the Arkansas State Guard and a trusted advisor to the Governor. The Mahony brothers—Emon, Bartholomew, Fergus, and Joseph—each contributed to Union County through careers in law, medicine, and business. Their legacy of service lives on, including here at South Arkansas College through the Mahony Family Library. The portrait will soon be professionally restored before being permanently displayed in the library. We look forward to sharing the finished piece with our campus and community in the near future! Stay tuned for the unveiling. 💙
