The South Arkansas College Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs spent Thursday morning at Hugh Goodwin Elementary School, greeting students, opening doors, and bringing positive energy to the start of their day. The visit reflects the programs’ commitment to investing in the local community and strengthening ties with families, youth, and future fans.

“Engagement like this matters,” said SouthArk Athletic Director Dr. Jenny Sanders. “Building a real connection with our community helps build a strong, proud, and supportive fan base. These kids look up to our student-athletes, and our players take that responsibility seriously.”

Tonight, both squads will tip off their home opener inside the SouthArk Gym, looking to capitalize on the momentum from their community outreach.

The Women’s Team takes the floor at 5:30 PM against Copiah-Lincoln Community College, aiming to avenge an early-season loss and secure their first victory of the year.

The Men’s Team follows, hosting Royal Ambassador Prep as they push for their second win of the season. The men return home after a demanding road stretch that featured four matchups against Division I NJCAA opponents, entering tonight’s contest at 1–3.

SouthArk Athletics invites all students, families, and community members to pack the gym, cheer loudly, and help create a true home-court edge. Admission to the game will be a non-perishable food item or cash donation to support a community food pantry. The evening will include games, prizes, introduction of the teams, and opportunities to meet the Stars for autographs and photographs.
