The South Arkansas College Men’s Basketball Team continued its commitment to community outreach by partnering with the Hillsboro Food Bank at Hillsboro Street Church on October 9 to help serve families throughout the El Dorado area.
Members of the team spent the day volunteering their time and energy to support the food pantry’s mission of fighting hunger in the community. The student-athletes assisted with sorting donations, packaging food items, and helping distribute supplies to local residents. Through their efforts and the collective work of volunteers, the event successfully served more than 400 families in the surrounding area.
For the South Ark men’s basketball program, community service is an important part of the team’s culture. The players understand that representing the college extends beyond the basketball court and involves making a positive impact in the lives of others. By lending a helping hand at the Hillsboro Food Bank, the team demonstrated the values of service, leadership, and compassion.
“Our goal is to develop young men who make a difference wherever they go,” said South Ark Men’s Basketball Head Coach. “Community outreach is a major part of our program, and we hope to continue fostering lasting relationships throughout El Dorado and the surrounding communities. We always encourage our players to be impactful in as many walks of life as possible.”
The volunteer effort provided an opportunity for the players to connect with local families while gaining a greater appreciation for the importance of community support. Events like these reflect the program’s ongoing dedication to serving others and strengthening relationships throughout South Arkansas.
As the season approaches, the South Ark Men’s Basketball Team remains focused not only on success on the court but also on being a positive force within the community. Through initiatives such as their partnership with the Hillsboro Food Bank, the program continues to exemplify the spirit of service and the value of giving back.
