Community Scholarships

Lacy Kathryn Allen Memorial Fund (Associate of Applied Science PTA at SouthArk)

Eligibility requirements for selection of scholarship recipients will be made and apply to students pursuing a degree at SouthArk College and accepted into the Associate of Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant Program.  The purpose of this scholarship is to provide assistance with tuition and books during the summer session at South Arkansas College to students accepted into the Associate of Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant Program.  The criteria to be used by the Advisory Committee in the recommendation of scholars shall include, but not be limited to academic merit, financial need, and character.

Application eligibility criteria requirements:

  • Scholarship online application completed and submitted.
  • Cumulative college transcript through the most recent term.
  • Student applying for Associate of Applied Science Physical Therapist Assistant Program at SouthArk College. Scholarships will only be granted to individuals who are accepted into the PTA Program.
  • A one-page typewritten essay describing the applicant’s career goals and need for financial assistance.

The Albert W. Loftin Scholarship

  • Award
  • Half Tuition Scholarship

  • Eligibility
  • First-time entering freshmen
  • Graduate of a Union County high school
  • Must be recommended by high school counselor based on academic achievement, the potential for future academic promise, and citizenship
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA
  • Must enroll in at least 12 credit hours each semester
  • Submit a letter of recommendation from a high school counselor

  • Renewal/Retention
  • Must have completed at least 9 credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA at the end of the 1st semester
  • Must have completed at least 24 credit hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of the 2nd semester
  • Must have completed at least 36 credit hours with a minimum 3.0 GPA at the end of the 3rd semester

Kathryn R. Thomas Scholarship for Women (Health Science at SouthArk)

This non-renewable scholarship was established by her coworkers in memory of Kathryn Thomas, and is to provide tuition and textbooks during the summer session(s) in Health Science field at SouthArk College and is awarded to South ArkansasCollege to women students attending South Arkansas College who have been accepted into a health science program at the technical certificate or associate of applied science level.

Eligibility Criteria:
Eligibility requirements for selection of scholarship recipients who are women students enrolled on a full-time basis and pursuing a degree at South Arkansas College and accepted into a health science program at the technical certificate or associate of applied science level.
The criteria to be used by the Advisory Committee in recommendation of scholars shall include, but not be limited to, academic merit and financial need.
