SouthArk Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship Application

The South Arkansas College Foundation offers scholarship awards to new, incoming and continuing students.


For detailed information on the scholarship application process, contact the Financial Aid Department at (870) 864-7150. 

Deadline for submission of applications and all other required documents is March 1st.

Apply for Scholarships -- Only online applications will be accepted.

Bring additional documents (essays, letters of recommendation, etc.) for your scholarship application to the Financial Aid office or email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Alpha Xi Endowed Scholarship

Award

$250 each semester (part-time), or $500.00 each semester (full-time), based on availability of funds

Pays for tuition, mandatory fees, and/or books and supplies

Eligibility

Non-traditional female student (age 24 or older)

Completion of one semester (12 or more hours) at SouthArk

Minimum 2.5 GPA in prior coursework

Enrolled as full-time student (minimum 12 hours) or as a part-time student (minimum 6 hours)

South Arkansas Foundation Athletic Scholarships

Award

Up to $1,000 each semester, based on availability of funds, with Athletic Director/Coach discretion.

Pays for tuition, fees, and/or course related books and supplies

Eligibility

Must meet all NJCAA eligibility criteria.

Submit letter (minimum of 300-500 words) which demonstrates student's commitment to continuing his/her education, a description of educational goals, and future career plans.

Renewal Criteria

Maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average

Based on a letter of recommendation from the athletic director or sports coach.

 

Jennifer Baine Endowed Scholarship

Award

$250 (part-time) or $500 (full-time) each semester, based on availability of funds

Pays for tuition, mandatory fees, and/or books and supplies

Eligibility

Completion of six (6) or more hours and all basic studies if required, at SouthArk, and have a minimum of 3.25 GPA in prior coursework

Must be pursuing an Associate of Arts or Humanities degree with the intention to transfer and continue in this area.

Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 hours) or as a part-time student (minimum 6 hours)

Copy of transcript submitted with completed scholarship application

Renewal / Retention

Based on completion of 6 semester hours each (if part-time student) or 12 hours each semester (if full-time student) and a 3.25 cumulative grade point average on all college coursework.

Karen Boykin Endowed Nursing Scholarship

Award

$500 each semester, based on the availability of funds.

Pays for tuition, mandatory fees, and/or books and supplies.

Eligibility

Minimum 3.0 GPA on college coursework.

Must be seeking a certificate in the Warren, Arkansas Practical Nursing program. Must be given to a current student of the Warren practical nursing program.  

If the Warren, Arkansas Practical Nursing program ceases to exist, then the scholarship shall be awarded to a student in the SouthArk nursing program.

Must have completed the first semester in the nursing program.

Copy of transcript submitted with completed scholarship application.

Submit two (2) letters of recommendation, one from a nursing faculty and one from a member of the community, documenting evidence of a desire to pursue an education.

Submit an essay (minimum 250 words) on why the student has chosen the field of nursing.

Renewal / Retention

Based on completion of the second semester in the Warren Practical Nursing program with a 3.0 GPA.

Based on a letter of recommendation from a nursing faculty person.

Dr. Kenneth Bridges Scholarship

Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 hours) or as a part-time student (minimum 6 hours).

Two (2) letters of recommendation, one from a business and industry representative and one from a member of the community, documenting evidence of a desire to pursue an education.

Applicant must have a disability that is documented by a medical professional or certified educational examiner

Available to students who are Jaycee members, non-members or immediate family members of a Jaycee; including children, siblings, spouses, and parents. Non-members are encouraged to join, but it is not a requirement

Student must demonstrate leadership qualities as evidenced by participation in community service, civic organizations, and/or school-related organizations

Submit a short essay of approximately 400 words describing the qualities of a leader and how he or she demonstrates those qualities

Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 hours) in the HEALTH SCIENCES field of study (program).  Students may be pursuing a certificate, AAS, or an associate degree (2+2) in a health sciences career.

Award

Pays for tuition up to a maximum of $1000 for full-time students or $500 for part-time students per semester

Traditional age students, 17-23 inclusive.

Minimum 2.75 GPA on high school work or a score of 580 on the GED exam.

Must have attended a United States public/private school for three years.

Must have resided in the United States for the past three years.

Resident of Ashley, Bradley, Chicot, Drew, Ouachita, and Union Arkansas counties or Claiborne, Union, and Webster Louisiana parishes.

Preference is given to non-El Dorado Promise students.

A dependent is defined as a spouse, child or grandchild as certified by the donor.

Smackover High School Award

Award

$250 per semester, based on availability of funds, with a maximum duration of four consecutive semesters.

Eligibility Criteria

Graduate of Smackover High School.

No minimum GPA required; past academic record will be considered.

SouthArk Employee Club Endowed Scholarship

Award

Up to $300 each semester, based on availability of funds.

Pays for tuition, fees, and/or books and supplies.

Eligibility

Completion of six (6) or more hours at SouthArk and have a minimum of 2.0 GPA in prior coursework.

Must be enrolled as a full-time student (minimum 12 hours) or as a part-time student (minimum 6 hours).

Copy of transcript must be submitted with completed scholarship application.

Student must have applied for and been denied all other types of financial aid, excluding student loans.

Based on completion of 6 semester hours each semester (if part-time student) or 12 hours each semester (if full-time student) and a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all college coursework.

Melba Tatom Nursing Endowed Scholarship

Must be seeking a degree or certificate in the nursing program (RN or LPN)

Must have completed first semester in the nursing program

Enrolled in health sciences technology, auto service technology, welding, industrial technology, process technology, criminal justice, information and business technology, and/or general studies
