Chosen Candidate will be required to submit to a criminal background check and have acceptable background results, provide any certificates of training (if the candidates possess any) or Licenses, Official Transcripts (for positions requiring undergraduate or graduate education), must have a clean driving record, and must complete all new hire paperwork prior to starting work.

 

To supervise, evaluate, and facilitate learning for nursing students in the laboratory and/or various clinical settings.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Supervise students in the nursing skills and/or simulation lab and/or various clinical settings at a ratio not to exceed 8 in an acute care setting, 10 in a non-acute care setting, or 15 in a community service setting.
  • Structure a learning environment in which all students are treated equitability and respectfully.
  • Maintain attendance records and report student deficiencies to Clinical Coordinator and/or Director of Nursing Programs.
  • Facilitate effective student learning experiences that focus on achievement of the student’s current course learner outcomes.
  • Evaluate student performance and provide immediate feedback to the student, including advising student of areas of needed improvement if applicable.
  • Ensure students are receiving and providing appropriate patient report per the facility policy.
  • Grade clinical assignments and enter grades in the college’s LMS (Learning Management System) in a timely manner.
  • Perform scheduled work hours and expected tasks as assigned.
  • Provide regular updates on student progress to Clinical Coordinator and/or Director of Nursing Programs.
  • Attend faculty meetings as scheduled by the Clinical Coordinator and/or the Director of Nursing Programs. 
  • Maintain professionalism and effective communication on campus, in the lab and in clinical settings.
  • Provide a supportive and educational learning environment.
  • Be knowledgeable of and uphold the program’s Student Handbook policies, program procedures, and program/course requirements.
  • Attend all required orientation and training.
  • Actively participate in annual evaluation processes related to job performance as directed by the South Arkansas Community College Plan for Faculty evaluation and incorporate associated strategies to address continuous improvement for development and learning;
  • Complies with South Arkansas Community College Governing Board Policy and state and federal policy, including FERPA.
  • Adhere to South Arkansas Community College’s policies and procedures  

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Hold a current, unencumbered registered nursing (RN) license in the state of Arkansas or from a compact state.
  • Maintain competency in their area(s) of clinical instruction.
  • Hold a current Basic Life Support provider card

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Hold a minimum of an Associate’s degree in nursing
  • Have a minimum of one year of clinical nursing experience 

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
  • Work experience in nursing education

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervision of employees

 

Work Environment: Work in the health science skills laboratory, simulation laboratory, and/or in various healthcare facilities for nursing students’ clinical experiences.

 

Physical Demands: Lifting, turning, stooping, bending, standing for long periods of time and other routine demands in nursing profession.

Travel Requirements: Travel required to assigned clinical facility locations. Must provide own reliable transportation.
